| Yellow |
Yellow is an auspicious colour. It is like a morning raga, driving away darkness and despair. An inspiration to begin the work at the dawn and return home at the dusk. A link between red, which signals halt, and green, which signals continuation of journey of life. Yellow is children’s favourite colour and a symbol of friendship. Womenfolk extend invitation to guests by smearing a mixture of turmeric and sandal paste, to say “we are your well-wishers.” Significantly, in some Indian languages, there is no difference between yellow colour and turmeric.
A little bit of turmeric paste will bring fair look to the face. It is said consuming 100 mg of turmeric mixed in water or buttermilk or milk will keep away dreaded diseases like cancer. It symbolizes wealth, granary, health, good children and long life – all indicative of a golden life.
Harvested crop and heaps of grain are yellow in colour. And if grain germinates, it gives rise to green colour. Interestingly, green and yellow are perfect mates – appearing together beside each other in a rainbow. For an artist, blue, red and yellow are primary colours; for photographers, they are – blue, red and green. Though green and yellow are different in appearance, they are similar in nature. When used in suitable combinations, yellow interiors will give a great look. Because it is a bright colour!
